Text from a newspaper clipping:

FROM AN OLD COMRADE; MEMPHIS, TENN., MAY 27, 1907--Mr. T. L. WELLS, Dyersburg. My dear Mr. WELLS; I am just in receipt of your kind favor of the 26th informing me of the death of Tom LEDSINGER, I am exceedingly sorry to hear that a true a soldier and so good a man and friend should have passed away. He was one of the truest and best men I ever knew. If I had known of his death in time I should certainly have done myself the honor to be at his funeral. A few more years and we will all be gone. He has only preceeded the rest a short time. Thanking you again for remembering me. I am Very truely yours, Jas. E. BEASLEY. ( J. E. BEASLEY and Bill FLOWERS assisted Tom LEDSINGER to carry General STRAHL off the field of Battle of Franklin when the latter was mortally wounded in that memorable conflict. )
