Re: Cocke County and Eisenhours and Easterlys

Yes, there are many variations of the Eisenhour name. In one census it will be 'Eisenhour,' in the next Isenhour,' etc. The 62nd Tennessee list my ggg grandfather as Isenhour, while the 3rd Mounted Infantry and 8th Infantry list him as Eisenhour. A distant Eisenhour kinsman advised me that there are many Eisenhour and Ottinger (my gggg grandmother's maiden name) headstones in the cemetaries in Greene and Cocke counties.

My own ggg grandfather left East Tennessee soon after the war, before the end of 1865, and lived the remainder of his life in Boone County, Indiana. I have wondered if the rapid departure was due to bad memories of events in the war. Supposedly, between the time he was in the Confederate and Union armies, he was an 'outlyer' hiding in the mountains.

Glad you enjoyed the history re the 11th Miss Cav. If I find substantially more information, I may do a revision someday.
