Darron, I have the entire 2 rolls of microfilm covering his regiment. The only way we knew of his service was his pension application and the affidavits of men who served with him. Regarding consistency of record keeping across companies vs within companies, I can't really say. Off the top of my head I can't remember who - at the regiment level or the company level - was responsible for the muster rolls. The problem is, any inconsistency one finds could simply be due to missing records that never got microfilmed.
