Would you agree with Marks post above that it can often be difficult to determine length of service on a soldier based on Confederate muster rolls/service records alone ?

Obviously, if we find a man with many cards, it confirms much about his time in service. A pension application would also be most valuable.

My interest lies with those men who have one or two page records (or none) and may have died before pensions were granted, never applied at all, may have been single, or their widows never applied.

If a man has a one page Company "muster in" card what may we assume from this when other men from his company have this same "first" card plus many others ? Lets also say they enlisted on the same date. We know this from the "muster in" card.
