All I know is what I was told. Unfortunately, I did not know enough
to know what to ask. But thanks for the input.
He made it very plain that he was not leaving his money behind, so
Temple went into some part of the ship to get it, before going overboard.
Perhaps he meant he lost his men in the water, but whatever, he still
considered it a great loss.
I would imagine he had won the money shooting craps as that is what my daddy
did, and then my daddy had so much saved up that he made the original
downpayment on the farm from money he won gambling. We are talking about
a couple of poor boys from the South and both made chief.
Temple is so sharp still that he gave vivid details of things and really did not
want to tell one more bit than what he told. His uniforms look as if they came
from a movie set and he retired many years ago.
