Hello. I am delighted to hear from you.
Temple Herron, now age 103, who was my Aunt Sallie Temple Herron and Uncle Tate Herron's oldest son and the
grandson of Lt. Herron who served in the 7th Tenn. Cav. was here in Lonoke, Arkansas in Sept. He donated his uniforms
from his 22 and a half years of U.S. Navy service to the Lonoke County Museum.
Temple was an actual swim away survivor of the Wasp when it went down in WW II. He got 179 of his 189 men, off the
ship and to safety. His youngest daughter Carey Anne and son-in-law, Fred were traveling with him. One of the things
he did was to visit the grave of his grandparents at the Lonoke Cemetery before he left town. I know he did because my
brother and I helped them find the graves.
If you will write me at MissLata@sbcglobal.net, we can continue the conversation. Thanks and I have a lot more to say.
Looking forward to hearing from you as I had no connection or possibility of finding any of your family.
Linda T. Acrey
