Re: Chattanooga - Cassady/Casaday

I agree with you Allen. I don't have all my old research in front of me just now but, I recall there were many regiment's that joined Olmstead's 1st GA before the battle at Morris Island. It looked like a nightmare to me. And, wasn't Company "G" originally Capt Davenport's Independent Company Cavalry, GA State Troops unattached (Source, info from Gene Harrison) ~ I also found the 63rd GA Infantry volunteers were attached to Olmstead's 1st and were at Morris Island July to Sept 1863. ~ Could my ancestor have joined the Army in Northern GA or Chattonooga TN, and never with Capt Davenport's company or a resident of Chatham CO GA but still likely to end up at the Morris Island battle with Olmstead 1st ? Do I have any chance of finding the identity of the James H Cassady that was killed at Morris Island ? Appreciate your help.
Bette
