Alan, One place the "Residence" is listed, is on the Ancestry site. It's under US Civil War Soldier Records & Profiles. Chatham County GA is not only listed as a residence for the soldier I'm researching, it's listed for close to the whole regt'. After looking up several names, only one soldier of this same regt', was listed in the 1860 census for Chatham CO GA. Anyone searching this record should be aware, like you said, that record doesn't exist [in the Confederate Regiment's data field for GA.] ~ It doesn't apply to all states, right?
