Jerry I am so sorry I did not get back sooner.
Your postings sound quite interesting. I just still work for a living and as I teach second grade, it has been a busy week.
I am sending you the site for Camp Nelson. I may be wrong, but I would bet money your ancestor Wyatt is there. The cemetery is easy to get to and as far as I know is well kept. You may like to come this way sometimes to just see it.
I live in a small town called Lonoke. If you leave the interestate there and head north for quite a ways--meaning probably 10 or so miles on your way to Beebe. There are signs marking the turning point, so then you turn and head west for a ways. (Not the best instructions, but correct.)
At the time of the Civil War where the cemetery is located was still Pulaski County, the one Little Rock is in.
My ancestor who died in the Yankee prison on Feb. 1, 1865 was probably buried at Mt. Holly first. After the war, all of those were dug up and reburied, and of course we have no idea where his remains went to.
That part about the 1st Arkansas is true from all that I have been told.
Hope this sheds some light for you.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
