Kent, the camp of which you speak was probably "Camp Whiting" but there were two in that area of N.C.. (1)- 2 miles east of Wilmington,N.C. and was a winter camp for the C.S.A. back then. (2)-part of Wilmington coastel defense on Holden Beach.
