Re: Bourland & Northern Frontier

Jim,

I think I have him, his name is wrong on his record.
There is only one Howell in the Texas 2nd Cavalry Regiment, State Troops.

T.S. Howell (First_Last)
Regiment Name 2 Reg't Cav., Texas State Troops
Side Confederate
Company B
Soldier's Rank_In Private
Soldier's Rank_Out Private
Alternate Name
Notes
Film Number M227 roll 18

Organized by the increase of the 2nd Cavalry Battalion, State Troops to a regiment in late 1863. Mustered out in early 1864.
First Commander: Gideon Smith (Colonel)
Field Officers: J. C. Carter (LT. Colonel)
James B. McLean (Major)

Assignments: Townes' Cavalry Brigade, Slaughter's Division

You should be able to order his records now with no problems. You can get copies at this site( check the banner).

I hope this helps you,
Gary D. Bray
