What I'm trying to figure out is whether the Confederate Quartermaster Corps records for the Trans-Mississippi were kept by Department or by Richmond. I get the impression that each Department and Sub-Department did their own and only sent on summaries or inter-departmental correspondence. Another interesting question is just how much artillery was actually imported into the Trans-Mississippi. It seem fairly straightforward to determine how much of it was captured (or lost). But it would be interesting to determine just how much was actually brought into the Department through the blockade. You also wonder whether the State troops had their own Quartermasters or worked with the CSA. Tx again, George
