John Edward Bates, 10th Texas Inf

Enlisted Limestone Co. Tx - Pvt. Co. B, 10th Regiment, Texas Infantry. Captured Jan 11th 1863, Arkansas Post / POW Camp Douglas, Illinois (Chicago). Exchanged in March 1863 at City Point, Virginia

My question concerns his service after his exchange in March of 1863.

I find no record of his service beyond that point, but presumably he was assigned to another Texas unit in the Army of N. Virgina or perhaps the Army of Tennessee.

can anyone here fill in the rest of his story?

T.I.A.

(this picture was taken at some point later in the war, perhaps after capture for a 2nd time ...)
