Benton "Ben" Gear of Company E, 9th Texas Cavalry. Ben was sick for a lot of the war and was in the General Hospital at Quitman. Survived the war. Data found in Stephen Kirks book on the 9th. Also has a reference of Estill papers of the 33rd MS Inf. Married Janet in 1866 and she applied for a pension. He died in 1909 and is buried in Red River. Will copy all of Kirks data to you if you like.
