There's a map in William Gray Thomas' military records (Confederate-Officers, p. 57) that shows the courier lines in SE Texas in the spring of 1864. Sabinetown is on the Texas side of the Sabine River between San Augustine, Texas, and Alexandria, Louisiana. Strother's Ferry seems to be due east of San Augustine, and Sabinetown is just below that. It is well above Burr's Ferry. It's now below Toledo Bend Reservoir.
