Thanks for the additional info. There aren't too many people that even know about the Tyler-Porter's Bluff Road. The early Navarro County survey maps indicate that the Bluff was on the west side of the river, and the Handbook of Texas article indicates that it was in Navarro County. This is not to challenge, but I am assuming based upon your post that you are confident that the Bluff was on the east bank. I have been working on documenting the routes of pre-civil war roads in and leading out of Smith County. A couple of questions, as deciphering Commissioners' Court minutes is not always easy, and names were interchangeable. I am assuming that the Buffalo road and Porter's Bluff Road were interchangeable, and probably followed the same route, running from Tyler to Edom to Walton, to Gun Barrel City, and then diverging somewhere to the west of Seven Points or Gun Barrel City. Do you have any information on the actual route of these roads in Henderson County?
