The reason I asked is that the VA will not issue a grave marker for a pre WW1 burial that already has a gravestone with the deceased name on it. For Civil War veterans they will only provide stones for unmarked grave sites. I think that this is a fairly new practice by the VA, because I have seen many grave site with both the VA marker and a private stone. Have you checked the Texas Confederate Pension Records.
