Thanks so much Gary. I really appreciate all the info. James West did not have a brother named Isaac. I haven't run across an Isaac yet searching for family history but who knows, he may be connected somehow so I will save that info.
The other fellows you mentioned in Co. K along with James West are all related to him. J. Shields was a nephew, C. Winn was a nephew by marriage and the 3 Tumlinsons are nephews if they are who I suspect they are. Typical of so many families they liked handing down certain names so it is hard to tell at times who is who.
There are probably more men in that Company that have ties to James West. I think that it was quite common for family and friends to sign up at the same time.
Thanks also for the info on Peter Woods. It all is helpful and appreciated.
