Re: Capt. John W. Bone: Were there 2 of them?

Hello Patti,

I appreciate your input and I am in fact relying on your data as well.

I really would like to claim just one John as he is in my direct line. However, these unresolved issues keep me from considering it proved:

We have wives Amanda (1850 and 1880 census) and Elizabeth (P A-R).

We have one John as a wheelwright (census) and one claiming exemption as a miller (Svc Record).

We have GR serving in his "brother" John Bone's company (P A-R). GR is son of Agoneh (census), whereas the known John is son of Alfred.

And we have the odd service sequence: 2nd TST 1863-> Bourland's 1864 -> Bones Co 1864 -> Terry's 1865.

All this could easily be explained away as a couple of coincidences and notation errors, but the two most difficult, the extra wife and the "brother", are from your data.
