Re: Names of Confederate Civil War Veterans

John,
I got on the Montgomery County Gen-web site and found our friend Clifton Hill. There is a large biographical piece on him. He must have been quite a guy and a good soldier. The link is http://ingenweb.org/inmontgomery/ I then went to a Putnam County web-site and looked at the list of burials at Roachdale Cemetery. I found Clifton and his wife both buried at Roachdale. That is consistent with what we know of his whereabouts right after the war. His wife Hattie lived in Putnam County and evidently both were buried there. I haven't been able to find him in all the census records of the late 1800's and early 1900's, but I'm pretty sure that his birth was /1834 and his death was 12/27/1922. I still wonder who the Clifton Hill is who is buried in New Castle, VA. Any ideas?
