Even though Hollywood Cemetery holds about 18K Confederates, it is still a private cemetery, so the upkeep on it has been very good. Majority of the soldiers are in what is called the Confederate Soldiers Section... Majority of the graves are unmarked but many decendents have come forth in the last decade and marked many of them. This Cemetery also holds Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler, Confederate President Jeff Davis and also JEB Stuart. Years ago I did a fair amount of restoration work in the soldiers section and have a few ancestors in there as well.

A friend of mine operates a non-profit organization thats sole function is dedicating and marking soldiers graves. You can get the stone for free from the VA, but as most cemeteries they charge a installation fee... He coordinates the ordering, delivery of the stone and proper placement etc... He and his group is resident here in Richmond also.
