According to Chris Ferguson's "Southerners at Rest", the newest and most accurate records from Hollywood, he does not list your ancestor there. It could be he is at Oakwood. A lot of diseased soldiers were taken to Lynchburg and other "hospital city" locations for care. You might try The Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg. They have exceptional records and are very helpful. And there are no soldiers "in the pyramid". It's solid to the core with free standing granite. I looked for alternate spellings of his name which were common and found nothing. I'd love to have Chris' research in an Excel file where you could look for units, then names. Or dates, then names. Don't give up. You'll find him.
