Here's what I have on the Fuqua brothers. The war was not kind to them. Would appreciate any additional information you might have on them, like middle names, dates of birth and especially letters, pictures, diaries and information about their prewar lives and for Norborn, his postwar life

FUQUA, HENRY M.: Sgt., Co. C. 1860 cen., age 25, farm hand, Davis Mills P.O., Bedford County. Enl., Pvt., 3/13/62, Buford's Depot, Bedford County. Hospitalized, acute diarrhea, Charlottesville 5/13 to 20/62 when released to duty in unit. Present in unit 8/7/62. Promoted to 3rd Cpl. by 10/15/62 when hospitalized, sick, Winchester. Remained absent from unit through 12/2/62. During absence was hospitalized Richmond 10/30/62 to 12/2/62 when released to duty in unit. Present in unit 1/15/63. Named on unit clothing receipt rolls for 1-3/63 and 2/26/64. Signed unit clothing receipt roll 9/18/64. Present in unit 11/2/64. Signed unit clothing roll for 12/64. Promoted Sgt. by 3/25/65 when KIA Fort Stedman.

FUQUA, JAMES A.: Pvt., Co. C. Born Bedford County. 1860 cen., age 21, Davis Mills P.O., Bedford County. Enl. 5/18/61, Lisbon, Bedford County. Present in unit, sick in camp, 8/31/61. Present in unit 10/31/61. Furloughed, age 22, at Winchester 2/14/62 on 36-day reenlistment leave. Present in unit 8/7/62 and 10/31/62. KIA Fredericksburg 12/14/62.

FUQUA, MARTIN V.: Pvt., Co. C. 1860 cen., age 18, Davis Mills P.O., Bedford County. Enl. 5/18/61, Lisbon, Bedford County. Present in unit 8/31/61. Sent from unit, sick, to Greenbrier White Sulphur Springs (W.Va.) 10/22/61. Remained absent from unit through 12/8/61 when he died, pneumonia, at Variety Springs (in Pond Gap, 15 miles west of Staunton), Augusta County. Personal effects: One knapsack, one pair of pants, one pair of socks, one pair of shoes, a shirt, hat, towel, and five dollars. In connection with his death claim, C.S. Treasury paid for service through 12/10/61, which the Treasury said was his date of death.

FUQUA, NORBORN: Pvt., Co. C. Born 9/25/39, Bedford County. 1860 cen., age 21, farm hand, Davis Mills P.O., Bedford County. Prewar farmer. Enl. 5/18/61, Lisbon, Bedford County. Present in unit 8/31/61 and 10/31/61. Hospitalized, sick, Liberty (Bedford) by 12/3/61 when examined for discharge. Discharged Huntersville (W.Va.) 12/11/61, disability: "incurable diseased condition of the heart." Paid as a discharged soldier 12/16/61. Later served in Purcell's Battery Va. Arty. 6' 0", dark complexion, gray eyes, black hair in 1861. Postwar farmer, Bedford County, 1870-1880. Applied for pension, age 65, in Bedford County 3/19/1904. Living, age 72, Roanoke City, Roanoke County, 1910. Died Roanoke City, Bright's disease and old age, 12/22/1915. Buried Timber Ridge Baptist Ch., Lowry, Bedford County.
