Thank you very much. I enjoyed reading the article and wish I could find more like it. Seems like a lot of Alabamaians made their way to Texas before and after the war. The Gettysburg description sounds very much like what the 9th experienced on the second day as the Wilcox Brigade attacked Cemetery Ridge. I have read many accounts of soldiers who were captured after the withdrawal order was given (and not heard) when the attack by Anderson's Division fell apart.
It's always nice to know what happened to the men of the 9th Alabama after the war.
