Re: Lt. Col. W. C. Bethune - 57th Alabama - Incide

Bob, The Bethune's are buried in the City Cemetery
at Abbeville; Dr Wm C., 1833-1881 and Mary Ellen,
1848-1892; he is in no way marked as being a
Veteran; also there and not confusing is,
William Calvin Bethune, 1874-1927 s/o Lt Col
Bethune and wife Pet Howerton, 1875-1945; what
is confusing, there is a marker for William
Bethune, 1835-1937, any ideas?

As for a brother: sure there were more, but the
only one I know of is buried at Clopton and his
grave is erroneously marked P.M. Bethune, 1839-
1864; descendants say this is Martin P. Bethune,
served first in Co F of the 7th and later in Co
H of the 39th; no idea where he was k/d; to date,
have found nothing linking this strain of Bethune's
to others in the area of Barbour/Bullock/Dale/
Henry/Pike; please advise if you ever do find a
connection.

Have the information ref the 53d Blue's in Bullock
County if you do not have it as yet.
