Scotty,
I saw in your profile that your ancestor was in the 57th Regiment. My GGF, William D Leonard, was in Co A of the 57th. Do you have more detail on the units record other than what's on this site? I'm new at this game so I would appreciate the help. I actually have 38 letters that my GGF wrote to my GGM during the war from Fort Pollard through the Battle of Atlanta. I don't know if he went to NC with the unit or what. I don't know if he was paroled or what. I did find his gravesite in rural Coffee County. The headstone was broken in half. We saved it and got a new one through the VA. Thanks for any help you can give me.
