On the subject of uniforms--my g-g-grandmother's first husband, who fought with Co. F, 22nd Alabama, died at Chickamauga. Along with receiving his back due pay from the Confederate government, she received compensation for his clothing. I am not sure what this means, but I pass it on for what it is worth.
