Bless you for your work in identifying these soldiers! I am interested in knowing what tools and methods you have to assist you. Is it a process of eliminating the identified deceased from units and seeing what names are unaccounted for, then working from there? When I wanted to make sure the S.B. -Alabama buried in the Confererate Cemetery in Fredericksburg was Sterling Brooking, that is basically what I did. I accounted for any AL deaths with those initials in that area. Note on his service record of "died in camp near Fredercksburg" wasn't enough for me to assume the gravesite was his, although others might have been content with that conclusion.
