It is interesting that Burdett was surprised that Clanton pursued Rousseau. Clanton went on to attack Rousseau's column at Loachapoka and Chehaw Station, and pursued them to West Point, Ga. I think Patterson joined Clanton at Chehaw, which may have contributed to the Confederate's success there.

While Clanton's brigade was picketing the Tennessee river in the spring, it was engaged in the "Skirmish at Woodall’s Bridge, Ala." on Apr. 7, 1864, although the account appears to indicate only a Company may have been under fire. Clanton's brigade was also with the Army of Tennesse at the battles of Resaca and Adairsville in May.
