I suppose, since I posted to this thread and because your post alerted my e-mail, that I will offer what very little I know. I am far more familiar with the road in Monroe and Conecuh south to Mims Ferry. I have been to Russell county and searched for any remnant of the road...it is my understanding that Bartram visited the village called Yuchi near the Uchee Creeks (Big Uchee and Little Uchee and pronounced in Russell both as You Chee and Oochee, a confusing event for those less scholarly like myself). I do not recall any discussion of pottery finds although the Creek history was well known by the locals. As for Seale...I do not recall any discussion of Seale in the context of the Federal road...I believe that I learned that Seale was known as some other name...perhaps a Creek name. Bartram called the town "very beautiful" and marveled at the lay out and organization. In reviewing a transcript of his book just now, I do not see any mention of pottery manufacture, although surely it existed. Perhaps, Dr. Greg Waselkov, Professor of Anthrpology at the University of South Alabama could share some light....his seminars on the Creeks are the most well informed and well researched that I have ever attended, but, again, I am far from a scholar and am easily impressed.
