His full name was Thomas M. C. Bryant. This is how he was listed in the 1860 census in Barbour County. On the muster roll, There is a Thomas Bryant and an M. C. Bryant. On his discharge orders (he was discharged in Feb. 1862 with pneumonia), he was listed as Thomas M. Bryant. What a convoluted mess! Too bad they didn't have serial numbers then like we do now.
