According to the 1907 Alabama Soldier Census and his headstone at Salem Cemetery near Andalusia, Al my great grandfather James Andrew White joined Co. I of the 6th Al Regiment on Nov. 23 1864 in Milton, Florida. He is listed on the roster of this unit on the internet. Looking at the timeline on the internet this unit was not in Florida around Nov. 1864 but around Virginia. There was a 6th Al Cavalry, Co. I which operated in South Alabama but he is not listed. I am confused, any help will be greatly appreciated.
