The Uncivil War by Robert R. Mackey

Well, since Bob won't blow his own horn, I will.

For those of you who do not own a copy of "The Uncivil War: Irregular Warfare In The Upper South, 1861-1865 (Campaigns and Commanders Series)", your Civil War library is not complete.

This outstanding work on irregular warfare in Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia gets "Five-Star" reviews from just about every professional and amateur historian who has read it.

It is clearly a fresh, thoroughly researched, well organized and slightly controversial book, as Bob puts forward the premise that Confederate irregular warfare was not a separate, unorganized war being carried on in a haphazard and disorganized way, but was, a thoroughly organized and integral part of overall Southern strategy. A strategy that failed.

Bob is a decorated professional military man and scholar. Last I heard he was working at the Pentagon.

Now that the book is available in paperback you should absolutely add this highly-acclaimed work to your library.
