I agree and it is really a shame. Over 10,000 white Arkansans wore Union blue--not even considering all the USCT regiments raised from freed slaves.
I remember having to burst the 'rebel' bubble of a friend's dad, who showed me the discharge certificate of his ancestor who had served with 'a Mississippi unit' in the Civil War (and this guy was a big battle flag fan).
I almost felt bad about having to tell him that the "Mississippi Marine Brigade" was a Federal organization :)
