Re: James Monroe Cavender, Civilian P,O,W,

Hi, Linda,
James Cavender was arrested near Searcy, AR by soldiers of the 3rd Missouri Volunteers.
I do know that at the time he died he was still being held at Camp Lyon in White Co., AR., the same county in which he lived. The papers I got from the National Archives said he was being held there by the 24th Regiment, Missouri Volunteers.
He was under arrest for less than a month before he died.
I'll research the 24th Mo Vol and see when they left the area.
I really appreciate your response, Linda. I find it's hard to get information on a civilian, so perhaps I should be grateful for what little I did get.
Thanks again.
