Re: James Monroe Cavender, Civilian P,O,W,

Hello.
This is what info I have on the capturing of my ggg grandfather, Fielding Price. I am sending it to you only because one of these names may mean something to you and help with your search on Cavender. Now they were taken two years later, but it shows that the population was not just quietly sitting by.
On 11-22-1864, Fielding Price of White County Arkansas was taken prisoner by the Union forces.
With Price at that time were five others.
In the Rebels' Hell, a book, published in 1993 it lists Lt. Fielding Price Of White Co., Lt. J. Pemberton, Lt. A.W. Jones, Pvt. Wm Tatum, Pvt. John Forsuth, and Pvt. Wiley Dunn. They were sent to the Union Prison in Little Rock and are listed at being admitted on 11-25-64.
John Forsuth died on May 8, 1865, I think it was, and Fielding Price on Feb. 1, 1865.
Pemberton, Jones, Tatum, and Dunn took the oath on May 7, 1865 to be released. Of all these men, Pemberton said only that he was with Davis Co. Jones said he was with 1st Ark. Rifles, and everyone else is listed as unassigned. Notice please that it says unassigned.
Hope this helps you some.
Linda
