Arkansas in the War Between the States

Thanks Tom, excellant information.

It would seem from the number of posting on this subject that there are a number of persons who have a certain amount of information about his period of time and a different perspective of events.

It also seems that these events went beyond the borders of the State of Arkansas and made it much more of a factor to events along the Mississipi than one would imagine from previously written histories of Arkansas from 1861 to 1865. The period from April to October 1862 in particular has always seemed to be a black hole that no one has ever approached as a campaign before.

Individual actions suchs as Whitney Lane, Arkansas Post and so forth, but not as a combined operation. Arkansas Post for example has always been treated as an independate action but in fact it was a part of a overall plan of operations That extended from Little Rock all the way down to the Battle of Millenkin's Bend in 1863 and the Fall of Vicksburg.

I wonder why no one had ever thought of writting a book about it in this manner?
