I complettely agree - and am glad that other people are seeing things that way. Another way to look at the period is to consider the operations of the Federal Army that reached Helena. Little work has been done on this force, but some of my investigations suggest that there are some interesting things in that subject. Although rarely in direct contact there were actions and reactions between the offensive and defensive at this period.
