The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Crandall's 47 Cav., etc.

Hello. I cannot tell you much about the 47th but I can try to help you with the rest. All of this posting
about the 47th has taught me more than I ever knew before, I can assure you.

I am related to the branch of Harpers that came to Arkansas after the Civil War ended. My ancestor
James Thomas Harper was a brother-in-law to Wm. Fisher and they both resided in White County.
Jim Harper had served with the 5th Tenn. and fought all over the South. His dad was James Sterling
Harper who was a blacksmith in the Jackson, Tenn. area.
With the passing of time, I am learning more and more about the extended family. That trip to
Missouri and into Kansas had a profound effect on my kinfolks of that time.
I am the 5th generation to be within Lonoke County and parts of my family have been in
Arkansas longer than that. So, I may be able to help you.
Linda
