"Here are the other men who were paroled at Vicksburg as privates "Co. G, 5th Arkansas" along with alternate spellings of their names.

"Charles A. Allen (or C. M. Allen)
Squire J. Huey (or S. J. Huly)
Joseph E. Martin (or J. A./J. H. Martin)"

These men all have in common that they were attested to by Lt. Carbry, their unit affiliation crossed through is, I'm rather sure, 3rd Missouri Infantry as was John Rose.

Charles Allen, age 19, Private, Company B, 5th Arkansas Cons., captured March 7,1863 at Madison, Arkansas, received Gratiot St. Prison, St. Louis, March 20, discharged April 20, Remarks: Washington, D.C., his Vicksburg parole certificate company & regimental affliations are crossed through, unreadable and 5th ARk Inf. Co? written above, attested by Lt. Jas. O.? Carbry [ I believe the crossed through is 3rd Mo.]

S. J. Huey's card filed with S. G. Huly, Private , Company G, 5th Arkansas Infantry, his Vicksburg parole certificate, S. J. Huey a Private of Co. G, 3rd Mo. Infantry [lined through] and replaced with 5th Ark. Infantry, and attested by Lt. Jas. ? Carbry

Joseph A. Martin, age 20, Private, 5th Regt. Ark. Cons., captured at Madison/St. Francis County, Arkansas, March 7, 1863, received at Provost Marshal, Helena, Ark. between March 1 and 15, 1863 and sent to St. Louis, discharged April 2, 1863 to Allen's Point, Va. for exchange, Remarks: Washington, his Vicksburg parole certificate reads Joseph, Private, Co. G, 3rd Mo. Infantry [lined through] and replaced with 5th Ark Infantry, and attested by Lt. Jas. ? Carbry

Could be the same man,

Joseph Martin, Private, Co. ?, 3rd and 5th Consolidated Missouri Infantry, captured at Blakeley, Alabama April 9, 1865, transferred from Ship Island, Mississippi to Vicksburg May 1, 1865

James T. Carbry, enrolled December 18, 1861 at Sac River, Missouri, 22 year old Merchant, , born in Ireland, 1st Lieutenant, Company G, 3rd Missouri Infantry, engaged at Lexington, Mo, Elk Horn, Port Gibson, & Vicksburg, was captured at Vicksburg July 4, 1863 and paroled on July 8, [Note: one card records as Company H, 3 & 5 Mo. Inft., another card noted 3rd & 5th Consolidated Infantry]

I remain in favor of his attachment to the 3rd Missouri, or perhaps the 3rd and 5th Missouri Consolidated Infantry
