I have to concurr with everyone as to the travesty perpetuated and the lack of proper ensight as to the value of the material ignored by Broadfoot. I am well aware of what Bryce attempted to do and applaude his efforts. Regrettably this is how business is done. Still with a few dedicated researchers we can still access the material in the archives, acquire copies of what we are after and then transcribe it into a proper format for publication. There are plenty of ways to get this done, if by no other means than self publishing which is not that difficult to do these days. In short it can be done. I have completed the transcription of Hindmans Trans-Mississippi records but await Columbias permission to publish. These records are too valuable to the Trans-Miss to simply lay about awaiting an eastern seaboard decision as to what is or is not valuable to us. Our understanding of events in this theatre are only in recent years becoming clearer for those researchers who see that there is much yet to learn. We must have this material.
