And if the publisher found someone better known to run the show, I'd be very afraid that this person would be as ignorant as Trudeau and reject a lot of good material. To combat this I'd want control over what got publised and I don't think that would be allowed.
There are actually 2 sets of materials gathered by the clerks when the ORs were published. The second batch is arranged to the volumes numbers of the OR and contain some good material. However, the really great material is contained in the other batch which is a huge hodge podge of stuff. It included, for example, a map of Sedalia, Missouri, the firing schedules for Vicksburg that I mentioned, and much else. There is enough material to fill another ten volumes, I think.
Correspondence is scattered around outside these two OR batches and in every conceivable place. You could publish dozens of volumes full of those. I remember finding in one place several dozen communications written during Sterling Price's Invasion of Missouri that ought to be published.
I found a potential publisher at one point, a guy from Gettysburg who I think published some of Jerry Coates' books. His last name was Thomas. He backed out because he was afraid of offending Broadfoot.
Another interesting project would be to publish court martials. There are lots of those. Broadfoot published only two of those.
This is an interesting topic. I'd like the imput of everyone who is interested in dicussing this
