I am looking for any information on a James Beard from McGehee's Calvary regiment. He was in Company H according to a pension record. He is listed as James M.(for Mercer), but have seen him listed as James W on the regimental roll on one site. I am helping my 10 year old son find out more about his GG grandfather as we study the Civil War in our homeschool. We have been trying to find any information about what skirmishes or battle their regiment might have been in, or any other info. My son is really hoping for a picture of some of the soldiers, but any info anyone has would be appreciated.
