Doyle-

Ransom's brigade proper did not arrive from North Carolina in time for the 7 Pines Battle. Ransom himself arrived ahead of his brigade in Petersburg on June 1st, where he was assigned as commander of the Dept of Appomattox.

Walker's Brigade, including the 3rd Arkansas Regiment, left Petersburg for Richmond on the morning of June 1st, but arrived too late for the main engagements of 7 Pines.

On June 2nd, both Walker's and Ransom's brigades [of Gen Holmes' Dept of North Carolina command] were being altered by transfers and additions of various regiments. Such changes were frequent for the next several weeks.

At the time that the casualty report was published, perhaps the 2nd Arkansas Battalion had been temporarily attached to Ransom's North Carolina Brigade.
