I am sure that there was a shakeup in the officer coup after the battle of Seven Pines because of the number of officier casualities and Lee taking over after Gustavus Smith flop. I met an interesting gentleman at our Sulphur Springs Living History event this weekend, his GGrandfather was killed at the Battle of Mechanicsville. He was a corporal in the Color Guard of the 35th Georgia. The 35th Georgia and the 2nd Battalion were fighting together over the same ground.
