George Bayne seems to have fallen off the face of the earth from his leave of absence.

George W. Bayne, Captain, Capt. Bayne's Company, Arkansas Infantry,* mustered into State Service July 24, 1861, received pay for the period July 25, to October 19, 1861, granted leave of absence October 22, 1861, no further records

* This company subsequently became (Old) Company I, 9th Regiment Arkansas Infantry

(old) Company I—Jefferson County.
“McCulloch Guards”

Organized in Jefferson County and mustered into Confederate service at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on July 27, 1861, for twelve months’ service. Due to losses incurred at the Battle of Shiloh, the company was disbanded on April 17, 1862, and its members distributed to other companies of the regiment on April 19, 1862. A new Company I, the “Osceola Hornets”, from Mississippi County, was added to the regiment on May 1, 1862.

Was killed while gallantly leading his company in the charge at Franklin, Tenn., description on enlistment April 2, 1861 in Arkansas, 21 year old Farmer, born in Lebanon County, Tennessee
