My information comes from an old, handwritten document by a relative 3 generations back. She details our Bayne history from George and Griffin's father, Scott b. 1795, forward. It is extremely accurate in all other details so I believe the information on George dying in the Civil War is most likely accurate. She even had written that Griffin died on the battlefield at Battle of Franklin and that he was honored there for his bravery during that battle - lines up with what's been posted. She did not give the brother's DOD but of course Franklin's date is evident and George's wife is of course a widow by the 1870 census. I know that a family of Bond brothers moved from Memphis to Pine Bluff with the Baynes and lived a few dwellings away in 1860. Maybe I'll luck up on something concerning George's death if I try to research a llittle on them, although not related. I'd be surprised if someone from their family didn't sign up with my Bayne's. The epidemic that killed the other brothers was pre- Civil War. Would George's wife, Elizabeth R. Bayne, have applied for anything concerning his service? Thanks for yor help and time.
