The 66th Illinois or Western Sharpshooters did have Henrys also and were at the Battle of Resaca as mentioned. Most the the Illinois troops that purchased their own Henrys got the money for the purchase from the re-enlistment bonus given them when they reenlisted as veteran volunteers.

The 7th Illinois Veteran Vol. Infantry had their big battle at the Battle of Allatoona Pass, GA. This was written about time and time again in the Proceddings of thier reunions well into the 1900s. This was indeed guarding a railroad cut.
