Hi Fred, Thank you for your response. I treasure any knowledge I can obtain as I am a novice at this game. I bought the sword and scabbard at an auction in Wis. about 6 mons. ago.
I am going to investigate this matter. I see on ebay there is a book for sale by the Rev. Fred Ross about Rotherwood. It may shed some light about whether he manufactured materials for the confederates during the war. I am not a real smart guy but it seems to me that a very proud man such as him who had a foundry during the war might have tried to contribute by supplying some weapons. I wish you could examine my sword as you seem to be an honest and trustworthy individual. Thank you again. Earl
