Sometimes the newspapers are great sources for battle honors for flags. For example, one SC paper listed the honors for McGowan's SC Brigade by regiment, which was a big help to us since I think only one of their unit flags survives today (if I correctly recall).

I think the battles listed per the 8th LA was just a list of those they fought in and not the honors on their flag. Of all the sources for CS flags, those from the Richmond Depot were the most uniform in terms of honors and for whatever reason only three of Lee's divisions went for them as did a few of his brigades (only one of those being from the Richmond Depot in terms of painting).

Someone else corrected me about the division the 8th LA served in and I was incorrect in my first statement about them.
